Where does the time go?

January flew by so fast. One thing I really don't like: I usually have a running list of things I want to get done. Sometimes I get a few of them done, but lately I find it is time for bed and I haven't even started on that list! It's like I sped at supersonic speed through the day and ended up at 11pm without even noticing. How does that happen? I need more hours in the day, and more days on the weekend.

Busy or no, however, I have had an amazing month. January is never my favorite month, but there was a lot of snow this year, and I've been really happy in general. I bundled up and ran around the city, not even bothered by the cold. I even participated in the No Pants Subway Ride here on January 13. We took off our pants under the statue at Václavské náměstí and rode a loop around the metro lines. This annual event started in NYC over a decade ago and has now spread to 60 cities in 25 countries all over the world. It was pretty small here in Prague, though - only about 30 people and most of them didn't really stick to the idea which is to pretend as if everything is normal and you don't even know any of the other pants-less people. Still, it was something different on a Sunday.

I realized I almost never take pictures of my kids, so this month I did a couple of "photo-shoots". I want to have pictures later to remember all of them. These are all kindergarteners, which is really my favorite age to teach. I even made a little "Kids Gone Wild" video: we were passing the ball around the circle, asking each other "How old are you?" when Zuzana went a little crazy for no apparent reason and started yelling "I'm 5 years old! I'm 5 years old! I'm 5 years old!". This quickly progressed (or degenerated, depending on your outlook) into a tribal dance complete with drum and triangle.

I'm going on a trip to Istanbul in a couple of weeks. The Czechs like to go skiing during spring break, so it falls in the middle of February, and I have a week off. My friend Dita is going with me; we will leave on a Saturday and return on Friday. I am excited to see a new city! My goal is to actually, finally write about my trip to Krakow before I leave for Turkey. I should have done this ages ago, but as I described earlier, it is somehow always already bedtime.

And yes, that is very philosophical.
